1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism & ADHD

It is about knowing when they need guidance, when they need reassurance and when they need the opportunity to work something out for themselves.
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with Autism and ADHD in Barnet.
The pupil enjoys being independent and does not need an adult taking over. The right Teaching Assistant will provide structure and encouragement while helping them become increasingly confident managing classroom routines and learning for themselves.
What will you be doing?
You will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to:

Provide consistent 1:1 classroom support

Help the pupil maintain attention and engagement

Break down instructions when required

Support organisation and transitions

Encourage independent problem-solving

Provide reassurance without creating reliance on adult support

Support emotional regulation

Reinforce agreed strategies consistently

Help the pupil participate confidently alongside their peers
Who are we looking for?
Essential:

Experience working with children or young people

A calm, patient and encouraging approach

Confidence supporting additional needs

Good communication skills

Ability to build a positive professional relationship
