Salary: £90–£110 per day (PAYE)
Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism in a mainstream school setting. This role is ideal for someone with patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children with additional needs access education and reach their potential. It is a full-time, term-time only role with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract after two successful terms.
About the Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support to fully access the curriculum. You will provide consistent guidance, implement tailored strategies, and encourage independence and confidence in a nurturing environment. You will also collaborate with class teachers, SEN staff, and parents to ensure the child’s needs are met.
Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism

Adapt learning activities to suit the individual needs of the pupil

Use strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours

Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and parents to monitor and review progress

Promote an inclusive, safe, and engaging classroom environment
Candidate Requirements

Experience supporting children or young people with Autism or SEN (desirable but not essential)

Patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting individual needs

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Flexible, proactive, and committed to child development and well-being

A genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs
