1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Camden

8:30am–4:00pm | Full-time | Term-time
One pupil can experience the same classroom very differently from everyone around them.
The role of a strong 1:1 Teaching Assistant is to understand what is getting in the way of learning and provide the right level of support without taking over.
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Camden to support a pupil with additional educational needs.
The role
Your responsibilities may include:

Supporting the pupil individually during lessons

Adapting resources and instructions where appropriate
-
Helping the pupil remain engaged and regulated
-
Supporting communication and social interaction
-
Preparing the pupil for changes and transitions
-
Reinforcing strategies agreed by teachers and SEND professionals

Encouraging participation within the wider classroom
-
Promoting confidence and independence
-
Monitoring progress and sharing relevant observations
-
Maintaining clear professional boundaries
What are we looking for?
Essential:
-
Experience working with children or young people
-
A patient and emotionally consistent approach
-
Excellent reliability
-
Good communication skills
-
Confidence following individual support strategies
-
Strong safeguarding awareness
Desirable:
-
Experience providing 1:1 SEND support
-
Previous SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant experience
-
Experience supporting autism, ADHD, learning needs, communication difficulties or SEMH
-
Relevant education, psychology, childcare or SEND qualifications
Candidates with strong transferable experience from mentoring, youth work, care, tutoring or coaching may also be considered.
