1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism / SEMH / Complex Needs

This role is centred around providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism, SEMH and complex needs. Some days will be about helping them engage with learning, others will be about supporting emotional regulation, managing transitions or simply being a steady, reassuring presence. Progress may come in small steps, but each one is meaningful.

The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a pupil throughout the school day, helping them access learning and feel secure within the classroom environment.
• Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to Autism, SEMH and complex needs
• Adapt tasks and learning activities to support engagement and understanding
• Support emotional regulation using calm, structured and patient approaches
• Help manage transitions, routines and unstructured times such as break and lunch
• Follow EHCP targets and behaviour strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO
• Build a positive, trusting relationship that encourages confidence and independence
Who This Role Would Suit

• Experience supporting SEN in a primary school, care, youth work or similar setting
• Knowledge of Autism, SEMH or complex needs
• Calm, resilient and able to build strong relationships with pupils
• Passionate about inclusion and supporting children to succeed in mainstream education
