Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant? Can you handle dysregulated behaviours? Do you have a positive and energetic personality?

We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with Autism (ASC).

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in a child's educational journey. The successful candidate will support the child to access learning, develop communication and social skills, and manage periods of dysregulation using positive, nurturing strategies.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception child with Autism.

  • Build a trusting and positive relationship with the child.

  • Support learning through play and structured activities.

  • Use proactive strategies to support emotional regulation and respond calmly to dysregulated behaviours.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider school staff to implement support plans.

  • Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction throughout the school day.

  • Maintain accurate observations and contribute to reviews of the child's progress.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has previous experience working within a primary school environment (essential).

  • Has experience supporting children with Autism and additional SEND needs.

  • Is confident supporting children who may display dysregulated or challenging behaviours in a calm, consistent, and positive manner.

  • Has a nurturing, patient, and resilient approach.

  • Is enthusiastic, energetic, and able to engage young children through play and creative activities.

  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Works well as part of a team while also using their own initiative.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a nursery, preschool, or Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting.

  • Knowledge of sensory regulation strategies, visual supports, and communication approaches such as PECS or Makaton.

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable but not essential).

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and supportive school community.

  • Ongoing training and professional development.

  • A rewarding opportunity to positively impact a child's learning and development.

  • Supportive leadership and SEND team.

If you are a caring, motivated individual with the experience and enthusiasm to help a young child thrive, we would love to hear from you.
