1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start | Kingsbury
Location: Kingsbury, North West London
Salary: £95–£100 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: Immediate
Are you someone who can build trust, show patience and make a real difference in a child's life?
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a mainstream primary school in Kingsbury to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who needs additional help navigating the school day.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands the importance of consistency, positive relationships and encouragement. You'll provide individual support, helping a pupil manage their emotions, develop confidence and engage with learning.
You don't need years of SEND experience. What matters most is your attitude, resilience and ability to build a positive relationship with a child who needs someone in their corner.
About the Role
You'll provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them access the curriculum and feel more confident within the school environment.
The role will involve:
-
Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
-
Supporting emotional regulation and managing challenging moments.
-
Encouraging engagement with classroom learning and daily routines.
-
Building a positive, trusting relationship with clear and consistent boundaries.
-
Promoting independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
-
Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team.
Who We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from candidates who have experience working with children or young people in any of the following areas:
Previous SEMH or SEND experience would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.
You'll need to be patient, reliable and emotionally resilient, with the ability to remain calm, think on your feet and build relationships with children who may find aspects of school life challenging.
Why This Role Matters
For some children, having one consistent adult who understands them can change their entire experience of school.
Your support will help a pupil develop trust, manage difficult emotions and gradually build the confidence and skills needed to access education more independently.
It's not just about supporting lessons; it's about helping a child feel understood, included and capable of succeeding.
