Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a 121 Teaching Assistant for a specialist autism school in Havering. The role involves providing individual support to a young person with autism, helping them access lessons, manage the school day and develop their communication and independence.
This is a full-time, long-term position suited to someone who is patient, consistent and able to adapt their approach to an individual student's needs.
The Role
Working alongside the teaching team, you will provide one-to-one support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities include:

Supporting the student to access lessons and classroom activities

Developing communication and social skills

Supporting sensory needs and emotional regulation

Helping manage transitions and changes to routine

Encouraging independence and positive behaviour

Following individual learning plans and support strategies

Working with teachers to monitor progress and maintain consistent support
Requirements
Previous experience in autism or SEND is useful but not essential. Relevant experience in education, care, youth work, mentoring or similar settings would be beneficial.
You'll need to be patient, observant and reliable, with the ability to build trust, follow established strategies and remain calm when situations become challenging.
