121 Teaching Assistant

Parker Smith Inclusion is a SEND specialist consultancy and I'm working with schools across East London that are seeking 121 Teaching Assistants to support learners with complex needs. The roles that we work on are long term, with the opportunity to become permanent either after two terms or 12 weeks, meaning you can progress within your career and really feel settled in the school you start in.
Being a 121 Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a learner that has complex needs such as autism, learning disabilities, speech and language needs, personal care requirements, behaviour challenges, and require adapted learning. You will be the support system for that learner offering them support inside and outside the classroom, safeguarding them in the playground and around the school.
Most learners that require 121 support may learn inside the mainstream lesson and/or in a specialist hub/classroom where they can work on their adapted learning, this could involved core boards, now & next boards, phonics, interventions, sensory based learning and learning through play. You will need to be confident to support with their functional skills ability as well as promoting their independence where capable.
Not only do you require the experience in SEND to be a successful 121 Teaching Assistant you also need to have the following qualities;

- Pro-active
- Positive attitude
- Eager to learn and confident in asking questions
- Being flexible within the school if ever required to support elsewhere
- Genuine passion for SEN
- Strong communicator
- Able to work well within a team
School experience is always preferred but if you have worked within a child care background, youth work background, or have personal experience with family members we always want to speak with you.
These roles are for an immediate start therefore it's ideal to have a DBS on the Update Service but we can process a new one of that's not possible. We also require 2 years worth of references.
