I’m currently working with a specialist primary school in Watford seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs, including autism and ADHD.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing specialist setting where every child is supported according to their individual needs, strengths and development.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the child to help them feel safe, confident and engaged throughout the school day.

You’ll provide consistent support in the classroom, during activities and across the wider school environment, helping the child access learning and develop their communication, independence and emotional regulation.

You’ll build a strong and trusting relationship while working alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to ensure the child receives the right support.

Every child is different, so you’ll need to be adaptable, observant and confident in responding to individual needs.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re interested in candidates who have:

• Experience supporting children with SEND, autism, ADHD or additional needs

• Experience in education, childcare, youth work, mentoring, care or similar settings

• A calm, patient and nurturing approach

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• The ability to remain consistent and positive in challenging situations

• A genuine passion for helping children develop and achieve their potential

Previous experience in a specialist school is beneficial but not essential. Transferable experience and the right attitude are equally important.
