Activities Coach – SEMH

Barnet, North London | £105–£125 per day PAYE | Full-time | ASAP

Not every young person connects with education through a traditional lesson.

Sometimes it is sport, creativity, practical activities or simply discovering something they are good at that provides the first route back into engagement.

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting an Activities Coach for a specialist SEMH setting in Barnet.

This is not a standard Learning Support Assistant role. You will take ownership of planning meaningful activities for pupils, delivering them effectively and reporting on participation and progress.

What will you be doing?

Your role may include:

  • Planning structured activities for young people

  • Delivering engaging individual and group sessions

  • Using activities to develop confidence, engagement and social skills

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH

  • Adapting activities around individual needs

  • Monitoring engagement and outcomes

  • Completing appropriate reports and records

  • Working closely with teaching and therapy staff

  • Helping pupils discover interests and strengths

  • Supporting wider enrichment opportunities

Who could this suit?

Relevant backgrounds might include:

  • Learning Support Assistants

  • Sports Coaches

  • Youth Workers

  • Activity Leaders

  • Behaviour Mentors

  • Outdoor Education staff

  • Therapeutic support workers

  • SEMH support staff

The key difference here is that you must be comfortable planning, not simply delivering something somebody else has prepared.

You will also need to be confident recording and reporting on the impact of your work.

Why consider this role?

This gives you the freedom to think creatively about how to engage young people.

You might be the person who discovers the activity that gives a pupil confidence, helps them regulate or allows them to experience success in education for the first time in a while.

£105–£125 per day PAYE, depending on experience.
