Do you want to work in a setting where relationships come first and your impact on young people is genuinely valued?
We are working with a specialist SEND school in Bexley that is looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students who have experienced significant challenges in education, including anxiety, trauma, and difficulties engaging in mainstream school environments.
The students within this setting are not typically outwardly challenging. Instead, many can become withdrawn, overwhelmed, or emotionally shut down when struggling. Your role will be to provide consistent support, encouragement, and reassurance, helping students rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning at their own pace.
The role of a Teaching Assistant in this environment is vital. You will become a trusted adult and a key part of each student’s journey, supporting not only their learning but also their emotional wellbeing and ability to feel safe within school.
This is a school that has worked hard to create a supportive environment for both students and staff. The team is welcoming, approachable, and passionate about what they do, with a leadership team that is hands-on, encouraging, and committed to staff wellbeing and development. There is a strong sense of collaboration throughout the school, and people genuinely feel part of the wider team.
Experience supporting SEND students is beneficial, particularly with autism, SEMH, anxiety, or emotionally based school avoidance. However, the school is also open to individuals with the right personality, empathy, and willingness to learn. Lived experience and strong interpersonal skills are highly valued within this setting.
Every school approaches SEND differently, and finding the right environment is key. This role would suit someone patient, calm, and emotionally intelligent who wants to build meaningful relationships and have a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
At Parker Smith Inclusion, we specialise in matching passionate individuals with SEND schools where they can thrive. We provide ongoing support throughout the process, including CV guidance, interview preparation, and access to training and development opportunities.
