Autism Base Lead Teacher - Primary SEN
Location: South West London | Start Date: September 2025 | Contract: Permanent | Salary: £40,609 - £60,092 in line with MPS/UPS Inner London
Are you ready to lead a growing Autism provision in a values-led school?
We’re working with a fantastic South West London primary school with a well-established Autism Resource Base that’s about to grow in numbers, space, and ambition.
They’re now looking for an experienced, confident and calm Lead ASD Teacher to join them from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership teaching role where you’ll shape practice, guide your team, and help set the tone for a nurturing, high-quality provision for pupils with autism.
About the role:
- You’ll be leading a class of primary-aged pupils with autism, all with EHCPs
- You’ll guide a small, committed team of support staff, helping everyone give their best
- You’ll work closely with the Head of Base and SENDCo to design and deliver an adapted curriculum
- You’ll contribute to transition planning, parent liaison, annual reviews and pupil progress tracking
- Most importantly, you’ll be a role model – someone who leads with warmth, structure and high expectations
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys teaching but is also ready to step into wider responsibility. You'll still have a class, but play a big part in how the base evolves.
About you:
- You have QTS or QTLS
- You have strong experience working with autistic pupils in a base, SEND, or specialist setting.
- You can adapt the National Curriculum and/or Engagement Model to suit individual needs.
- You’re confident leading others—you don’t need to have held a title, but you have natural leadership skills.
- You believe in inclusion, dignity, and high expectations for every child
- You’re organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
This role is not suitable for ECTs. We’re looking for experienced teachers ready for the next step or already in a leadership role.
What’s in it for you?
- A permanent leadership teaching role starting in September
- Inner London MPS or UPS salary + SEN Allowance
- Paid weekly via PAYE only – no umbrella deductions
- Support from a creative, values-led leadership team
- A developing provision with exciting future plans
- Part of a local Trust with access to outstanding CPD and leadership pathways
- Fantastic TAs, happy parents, and pupils who thrive when given the right support
