Autism Learning Support Assistant - Barnet
Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £90 – £100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible
An inclusive and supportive school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated Autism Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who is committed to making a meaningful impact within education.
The Role
As an Autism Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff to provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and additional learning needs. You will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
- Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and individual support plans
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Candidate Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism or special educational needs
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
