Autism Nurture Teacher

Specialist SEN School

Cricklewood, North West London

£40,317 – £62,496 per annum (Inner London MPS/UPS)

Do you believe that every child with Autism deserves a teacher who sees past the behaviour, past the resistance, and past the hard days, and still shows up the next morning with the same warmth and belief they had on day one?

Can you build a classroom that feels genuinely safe for young people who have learned to associate school with anxiety and failure, holding the structure they need and the nurture they deserve, adapting your teaching not just to what pupils know but to how they feel? Are you ready to teach in a way that puts the whole child first, and to be part of a school where that is not just encouraged but expected?

If that sounds like you, a specialist SEN school in Cricklewood wants to meet you.

The Setting

This is a specialist provision for pupils aged 7 to 16 with Autism (ASC) and associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, young people who have often experienced exclusion, disengagement, and a deep sense that mainstream education was not built for them. The school operates within a therapeutic, nurture-led framework where emotional wellbeing sits at the centre of every decision, and where rebuilding a child's trust in education is understood to be just as important as academic progress. Classes are small, the multidisciplinary staff team is experienced and collaborative, and the leadership here genuinely values the people who work within it. This is a school where you will feel supported to teach in the way you always believed you should be able to.

The Role

As the new Autism Nurture Teacher, you will plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons for pupils with ASC and SEMH needs across primary and secondary age ranges, in a structured and nurturing classroom environment that you shape and own. You will support pupils' emotional regulation, communication and social development alongside their academic progress, assessing individual needs and adapting your teaching strategies accordingly. You will work closely with therapists, support staff and families as part of a genuinely integrated team, contributing to a consistent approach that allows young people to feel safe, understood and ready to learn. This role starts in September 2026 and represents a genuine opportunity to build something meaningful over time.

Who This Is For

You will be a Qualified Teacher with QTS and experience in SEN, Autism or SEMH settings, or a mainstream teacher who is ready to make the move into specialist education and bring with them a strong, child-centred approach. You will understand what trauma-informed teaching looks like in practice, not just in theory. You will be resilient, creative, and genuinely motivated by the kind of progress that does not always show up in data but is visible every day in the classroom, a child who makes eye contact, who tries something new, who stays regulated through a difficult moment. That is what teaching looks like here, and it matters enormously.

What You'll Get

An Inner London salary of £40,317 to £62,496 on MPS or UPS with genuine progression, a full-time permanent contract starting September 2026, ongoing CPD and clear career development pathways within a specialist SEN environment, access to wellbeing support and staff benefits, the chance to work within a therapeutic multidisciplinary team, and a role where the impact of what you do is felt every single day.

Why This Role Matters

For the young people in this school, the right teacher is not just an educator, they are evidence that a trusted adult exists, that school can feel safe, and that they are worth investing in. The Autism Nurture Teacher who takes this role will help shape how these pupils see themselves and what they believe they are capable of. If you are ready to be that teacher, we would very much like to hear from you.
