A MS Primary school based in the heart of Hackney, Clapton are opening a brand new autism resource provision due to the ever growing need for support for children with SEN in Hackney. A provision is created for children that cannot thrive in a mainstream classes therefore can learning from an adapted curriculum to meet their needs within a private space, the classes are usually 5 - 10 students at one.
Depending on the children's needs the curriculum are usually focusing on phonics, sensory learning, learning through play, bucket time, colourful semantics and numbers.
This school prides themselves on their inclusivity and encourage all children to be engaged in all aspects of the school to reach their best potential, with renovated large classrooms that are well resourced.
To be a ASC Learning Support Assistant you will need to have;
- Experience supporting young children with autism (across the spectrum)
- Experience supporting children that have speech and language difficulties (non-verbal and/or limited speech)
- Knowledge or alternative communication tools such as PECs, Makaton, Visual Aids
- Level 2 - 3 in Health & Social or Childcare is preferred but not essential
- Patient with excellent communication skills
- Committed to a high delivery of service to students and staff
- Engaging and energetic personality who isn't scared to get stuck in
- Able to work well as part of a team
