A specialist SEN school in Pinner, North West London is recruiting an Autism Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition alongside MLD, SLD and SEMH needs. This is a full-time, term-time only role ideal for candidates with experience in special educational needs, behaviour support or autism support within schools.
About the Role
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will support children with complex learning and social emotional needs across the school day. Working closely with SEN teachers, therapists and support staff, you will help pupils access learning, regulate emotions and develop independence in a structured, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with autism, MLD, SLD and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assist with behaviour support, emotional regulation and engagement strategies
Implement personalised learning and behaviour plans linked to EHCP targets
Support communication using visual aids, routines and structured approaches
Help pupils during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and interventions
Work collaboratively with SEN teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
Promote positive behaviour, independence and social development
Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
