Are you patient, consistent and able to build trust with children who see the world differently?
We are working with a supportive school in Barnet that is looking for an Autism Support Assistant to join their team. This role would suit someone who is calm, reliable and genuinely interested in supporting children with autism, communication needs and additional learning needs.
You will be working closely with pupils who may need support with communication, emotional regulation, social interaction and accessing learning throughout the school day.
The role:
- Autism Support Assistant
- Barnet location
- Full-time, long-term role
- Supporting pupils with autism and associated SEND needs
- Working 1:1 and in small groups
- Supporting communication, structure, routine and emotional regulation
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team
The ideal person:
- Has experience with autism, SEND, care, youth work or supporting children
- Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient
- Can build positive relationships with pupils
- Understands that behaviour is communication
- Is reliable, proactive and willing to learn
