Autism Teacher 

Location: Merton 

Salary: MPS/UPS - £37870 - £56154 (PAYE) and dependant on experience 

Contract: Full time and Permanent (Term time only)

The Role

As an Autism Teacher, you will teach pupils with a range of needs and abilities and support students who communicate in different ways.

This role will involve you leading a small group of support staff, working across the classroom with students who may present with high and low support needs, dysregulation, sensory difficulties and challenging behaviours. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective lessons adapted to support Autistic students

  • Creating a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional development

  • Building positive relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A proven background in teaching students with a primary diagnosis of Autism 

  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning and behavioural needs

  • Strong communication, resilience, and interpersonal skills
