Primary ARP Teacher (Autism Resource Provision) – KS1/EYFS

Maternity Cover (Potential to Extend)
Outer London Pay Scale M1 – M4/5
Full-time | ASAP – End of January Start | Initially Until Easter
Location: Sutton

Are you a Primary Teacher with a passion for supporting autistic pupils and creating calm, structured environments where children feel safe, understood and ready to learn?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, inclusive primary school in Sutton seeking a Primary ARP Teacher to cover a maternity leave within their KS1 Autism Resource Provision. While this role is initially until Easter, there is strong potential for it to transition into a longer-term or permanent opportunity.

About the Role

You will be the Class Teacher for a specialist ARP provision, supporting a small group of pupils with EHCPs whose primary need is Autism (Communication & Interaction). You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants and work closely with the school’s SEND leadership team to deliver highly individualised learning.

This role offers the opportunity to step into an established provision with strong systems in place, while still having scope to shape routines, strategies and provision to meet pupils’ needs effectively.

The School Environment

This is a nurturing, values-led primary school where SEND is embedded into the fabric of the school rather than treated as an add-on. Emotional wellbeing, consistency and relationships are prioritised, and staff are trusted to use their professional judgement to do what is right for pupils.

Who This Role Is For

This role would suit:

  • An experienced ARP or SEND Teacher

  • A Primary Teacher with strong Autism/SEND experience

  • A teacher looking to specialise further in Autism provision

You will be well suited if you:

  • Hold QTS

  • Have a strong understanding of autism and communication needs

  • Value structure, routine and emotional regulation

  • Build learning around relationships and trust

  • Are reflective, patient and committed to inclusive practice

What You’ll Receive

  • Outer London Pay Scale M1 – M4/5

  • Small class size with strong TA support

  • Supportive SEND leadership and SLT

  • ASAP start (end of January)

  • Maternity cover until Easter, with potential to extend or become long-term

If you are looking for a meaningful ARP teaching role with the possibility of longer-term stability, this is an excellent opportunity.
