SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School ARP
Location: Sutton
Pay: £90 – £100 per day
Hours: Full-time, long-term

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School ARP in Sutton. This is a full-time, long-term position offering competitive daily rates and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of neurodiverse children.
Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to support the teaching, learning, safety, and well-being of pupils by assisting with classroom activities, intervention programmes, and individual support plans. You will work closely under the direction of the Class Teacher and Head of Base to ensure each child can reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Support individual pupils or small groups with tasks set by the teacher.

Deliver and assess specific intervention programmes, including planning tailored activities.

Prepare and adapt resources to meet the needs of individual children.

Contribute to curriculum planning and assess attainment in specific areas.

Participate in Annual Reviews, IEP Reviews, and support the creation of new IEPs.

Work closely with teachers, Inclusion Managers, parents, and other professionals to monitor and support pupil progress.

Provide classroom supervision to enable teachers to focus on specific groups.

Support children with emotional or behavioural needs and help develop social skills.

Assist professionals such as Occupational Therapists or Speech and Language Therapists in delivering 1:1 or small group sessions.

Support pupils in mainstream environments where appropriate and supervise during lunch and break times.

Contribute to classroom displays, learning materials, and the positive ethos of the school.
Other Duties:

Attend training sessions to support professional development.

Ensure the safeguarding and the safety of all children at all times.

Administer prescribed medicines and follow intimate care procedures as required.

Carry out other reasonable duties as required to support the school and pupils.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting neurodiverse children. Experience with SEN children, knowledge of intervention programmes, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are highly desirable.
