Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnet
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Full time | Term time only
Start date: ASAP
We are currently recruiting for an Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary SEN school in the Barnet area
This is a calm, structured and supportive setting that works with pupils with Autism and associated communication, sensory and learning needs. The school places a strong emphasis on emotional regulation, routine and developing independence, with staff working closely alongside families and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with autism in the classroom and during structured interventions

Help pupils engage with learning, routines and transitions

Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

Respond to sensory needs using appropriate strategies

Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider SEN team
Requirements

A patient, calm and empathetic approach

A genuine interest in autism and SEND

Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

A proactive and resilient attitude

Strong teamwork skills
Previous experience supporting children with autism or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
Psychology graduates and candidates seeking SEN experience are encouraged to apply.
