Learning Support Assistant - Autism Provision

Location: Camden, North London
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term to Permanent
Daily Pay: £90 – £100 per day (experience dependent)

Are you enthusiastic about working with children with autism and supporting speech, language, and communication development? Are you looking for a long-term opportunity within a well-supported, specialist setting?

We are recruiting a caring and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist autism provision within a mainstream primary school in the Camden area. The provision supports 59 pupils with autism and provides a structured, inclusive environment designed to meet individual learning and communication needs.


The Opportunity:

In this role, you will support pupils with autism and associated communication needs, including children who are pre-verbal. You will work closely with teachers and SEN professionals to help pupils access learning and develop key life skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for primary-aged pupils with autism

  • Support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs, including pre-verbal children

  • Use adapted communication strategies and sensory approaches to support learning

  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and engagement

  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN specialists

  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment


About the Provision:

About You:

  • Experience working with children with autism or additional needs (school, care, or alternative settings)

  • Confidence supporting children with complex communication needs

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Passion for inclusive and specialist education

  • Relevant experience or qualifications (e.g. SEN support, teaching assistant, childcare, psychology, youth work) are desirable but not essential
