We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, community-focused primary school in Sutton. The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and provides both 1:1 support within mainstream classrooms and access to a well-established SEND provision for pupils with additional needs.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis and, where required, within a specialist SEND provision. Pupils present with a range of needs including autism, speech and language delays, and social communication difficulties.
You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence and independence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for primary-aged pupils with SEND, including autism and speech & language needs

Support pupils within a specialist SEND provision and mainstream classrooms as required

Assist children in accessing the curriculum through differentiated, child-centred approaches

Use communication strategies, visual supports, and sensory-informed techniques to meet individual needs

Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and positive engagement with learning

Help manage daily routines, transitions, and structured activities

Work closely with class teachers, SENCo, and support staff to deliver tailored support plans

Foster a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

About You:

Experience working with children with SEND (school-based or alternative settings preferred)

Confidence supporting pupils with autism and communication needs

Strong teamwork and communication skills

A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

Relevant experience or qualifications (Teaching Assistant, SEN support, childcare, psychology, youth work, etc.) are desirable but not essential
