We are recruiting a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join a special school, supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism (ASC), non-verbal communication and complex needs. This role is highly purposeful and suits someone who understands that meaningful progress often begins with trust, regulation and emotional safety.
Pupils benefit from predictable routines, clear communication and adults who understand sensory processing differences and how these impact learning and behaviour.
The Role
As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism and complex needs

Support communication using visual timetables, routines and AAC strategies

Help pupils manage sensory input and develop emotional regulation throughout the school day

Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to implement individualised support plans

Support learning at an appropriate pace, recognising small but meaningful achievements

Respond to dysregulation using calm, consistent and trauma-informed approaches

Remain observant, proactive and emotionally attuned at all times

Have experience supporting children with Autism, non-verbal communication or complex SEN

Have an understanding of sensory needs, routines and regulation, or are keen to develop this further
