Location: West Drayton, Hillingdon
Salary: £40,746–£50,629 per annum (actual)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time or part-time
Start Date: Immediate or January 2027

Are you a Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with autism?

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist autism school in West Drayton to recruit an Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team.

This is an opportunity to work in a specialist educational environment, supporting pupils with autism and complex learning needs to develop essential life skills, improve sensory regulation and become more independent.

You'll play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, participate in everyday activities and develop the confidence and practical skills they need to thrive.

About the Role

You'll deliver individualised occupational therapy assessments and interventions, working closely with teaching staff, families and other professionals to support pupils' developmental needs and EHCP outcomes.

Your clinical recommendations will be translated into practical strategies that can be embedded into pupils' daily routines, ensuring therapy has a meaningful impact beyond the therapy room.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assessing pupils' occupational performance and identifying barriers to learning and independence.

  • Developing and delivering individualised occupational therapy programmes.

  • Supporting sensory processing, sensory regulation and emotional regulation.

  • Developing fine and gross motor skills, coordination and functional abilities.

  • Helping pupils build independence with everyday activities and daily living skills.

  • Contributing to EHCP reviews, clinical reports and multidisciplinary meetings.

  • Advising teaching staff and families on practical strategies to support progress.

  • Monitoring outcomes and adapting interventions to meet individual needs.

Who We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapists who are passionate about working with children and young people with autism and additional needs.

You'll need:

  • A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • An interest in paediatric occupational therapy and specialist SEND education.

  • An understanding of autism, sensory processing and functional development.

  • The ability to assess individual needs and deliver tailored interventions.

  • Strong communication and collaborative working skills.

Previous experience within a specialist autism school, paediatric setting or complex SEND environment would be advantageous.

We're open to hearing from Band 5 practitioners looking to develop their experience and established Band 6 Occupational Therapists who can bring additional clinical knowledge and confidence to the team.

Why This Role Matters

In a specialist autism setting, occupational therapy can have a significant impact on a pupil's ability to access education and navigate everyday life.

Whether it's developing sensory regulation, improving motor skills or building independence with daily routines, your work will help pupils develop skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

You'll have the opportunity to see the difference your clinical input makes to pupils' confidence, development and quality of life.
