Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist – SEND School
Location: North West London
Salary: Band 6 (equivalent)
Contract: Term time only, long-term
Start Date: ASAP
What if your therapy didn’t sit outside the classroom, but shaped how children experience school every single day?
In many SEND settings, therapy can feel like an add-on. Here, it is part of everything.
Join a highly supportive SEND school in North West London where Occupational Therapy is embedded into daily school life. This is a setting where your clinical expertise directly shapes how children regulate, engage, and access learning. The leadership team have built a collaborative, therapeutic environment where education and therapy work side by side to achieve meaningful outcomes for every pupil.
This provision supports both primary and secondary pupils with a range of needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and sensory processing differences. Many pupils may present with dysregulation, anxiety, trauma responses, and communication needs. The environment is calm, structured, and designed around safety, predictability, and regulation, with small class sizes and high levels of support.
As a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will manage your own caseload within the school, delivering functional, child-centred interventions that have real, day-to-day impact. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop sensory regulation, motor skills, independence, and engagement, while also supporting staff to embed therapeutic strategies across the school.
Whether you are an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist or a Band 5 ready to step up, this role offers the opportunity to develop your clinical practice within a truly integrated SEND setting.
This is where your presence is vital to the continued development, wellbeing, and success of these young people.
The Role
• Manage a defined paediatric OT caseload within the school setting
• Carry out functional, holistic assessments linked to school participation
• Deliver practical, child-centred interventions with meaningful outcomes
• Support sensory regulation, motor development, and independence
• Contribute to EHCP targets with clear and measurable goals
• Advise, model, and support staff to implement therapeutic strategies

• Experience working with children and young people with SEND
• Strong understanding of autism, sensory processing, and neurodevelopment
• Confidence in clinical reasoning and reflective practice
• A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
• A commitment to long-term impact in SEND education
What This Role Offers

• Ongoing CPD and development within SEND and paediatric therapy
Why This Role Stands Out
In many therapy roles, impact can feel removed from the classroom. Here, you see it every day.
You will be the therapist who helps a child feel regulated enough to engage, the one who supports staff to create environments where pupils can succeed, and the one who turns barriers into achievable, meaningful progress.
