Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist SEN School
Brent, North West London NHS Band 7 (Outer London) | Permanent | Full-Time, Term-Time Only
If you are a Speech & Language Therapist who wants more than a standard caseload and a desk in a corridor, this could be the role that changes the direction of your career.
Based at a thriving specialist SEN school in Brent, this is a position where therapy sits at the heart of everything. You will not be working around the edges of the school day. You will be embedded within it, working alongside teachers, families, and a full on-site multidisciplinary team to make a real and lasting difference to children and young people aged 3 to 19.
The school supports pupils with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, Down's syndrome, complex medical needs, and a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. Dysphagia is a significant part of this role, and you will lead on safe eating and drinking practice across the whole school environment.
This is a clinical lead position, which means your influence goes well beyond your own caseload. You will shape best practice, mentor junior therapists and assistants, deliver staff training, and help drive the development of the therapy service as a whole.
The multidisciplinary team includes Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, and Creative Arts Therapists. Specialist CPD and training time are built into your working week, and the leadership team actively values and seeks out therapy input.
You will be responsible for delivering specialist interventions, completing assessments and EHCP reports, developing personalised communication programmes, and working collaboratively to ensure every pupil receives joined-up, meaningful support.
To be considered you will need to be HCPC registered with experience at Band 6 or Band 7 level in paediatrics, SEN, or complex needs settings. Experience with dysphagia and a solid understanding of EHCP processes are essential. Experience in a specialist SEN school and confidence delivering training to wider teams would be a bonus.
This is a school that genuinely respects its therapists, invests in their development, and gives them the autonomy to do their best work.
