Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist with Clinical Lead Responsibility | Brent, North West London | NHS Band 7

Do you believe that finding your voice is one of the most powerful things a child can do  and that you can be the person who helps make that happen?

Can you walk into a complex, specialist environment, bring clinical expertise and genuine warmth, and leave a lasting impression on every child you work with? Are you ready to lead, mentor, and shape the way a whole school thinks about communication?

If that sounds like you, a truly exceptional SEN school in Brent wants to meet you.

The School

This is not a school where therapy sits on the sidelines. Here, it is woven into the fabric of every single school day. The pupils aged 3 to 19 have a range of complex needs including autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, Down's syndrome, complex medical needs, and speech, language and communication needs. The school is deeply committed to making sure every child is understood, supported, and empowered to thrive and therapists are respected as a central part of making that happen.

The Role

As their new Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist, you'll be joining a fully embedded, on-site multidisciplinary team made up of Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, and Creative Arts Therapists. You'll carry a varied and highly rewarding caseload, lead on dysphagia assessment and safe practice across the school, and play a genuine role in shaping best practice across the whole school. Day to day, you'll be:

  • Delivering specialist Speech & Language Therapy interventions for pupils with complex SEND
  • Leading on dysphagia assessment, management, and safe practice across the school
  • Completing EHCP assessments, reviews, and high-quality reports
  • Developing personalised communication strategies and therapy programmes
  • Providing training, coaching, and support to school staff and wider teams
  • Mentoring junior therapists and contributing to service development
  • Working collaboratively within the MDT to ensure integrated therapeutic provision

This is far more than a traditional school-based SALT role. This is a chance to lead, influence, and make a difference that lasts.

Who This Is For

You might be an experienced Band 7 therapist looking for a role where your expertise is truly valued. Or you might be a strong Band 6 ready to take that next step into clinical leadership confident in your practice, experienced in dysphagia, and passionate about working with children and young people with complex SEND. Either way, you will need to be:

  • HCPC registered with experience at Band 6 or Band 7 level in paediatrics, SEN, or complex needs
  • Experienced in dysphagia assessment and management
  • Knowledgeable about EHCP processes and multidisciplinary working
  • A confident communicator with strong clinical reasoning
  • Passionate about integrated therapeutic practice and improving outcomes for children with SEND

What You'll Get

  • NHS Band 7 Outer London salary
  • Permanent contract, full-time, term-time only
  • A fully integrated on-site MDT model with real collaboration across therapy and education
  • Dedicated CPD and specialist training built into your working week
  • The opportunity to mentor junior therapists and lead on clinical practice
  • A leadership team that values therapy input, innovation, and your professional growth

Why This Role Matters

they'll help shape a whole school's approach to inclusion. If you're ready to lead clinically, mentor others, and be part of something genuinely special, we'd love to hear from you.
