Behaviour Learning Support Assistant | Dagenham | September 2026
£95 to £100 per day (PAYE)
Permanent opportunity after just 12 weeks
Behaviour is communication. Can you see beyond it?
Not every child finds school easy.
Some children communicate with words. Others communicate through frustration, avoidance or behaviour that tells us they are struggling.
The right adult doesn't see a difficult child. They see a child who needs understanding, consistency and someone who won't give up on them.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
We're working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Dagenham that is looking for a Behaviour Learning Support Assistant to join their team this September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference while developing specialist behaviour and SEND experience, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract after just 12 weeks.
What will you be doing?
Every day is different.
You'll work closely with pupils who need additional support to regulate their emotions, build positive relationships and engage with learning.
Your role will include:
- Supporting pupils on a one to one basis and in small groups.
- Helping children understand and manage their emotions using positive behaviour strategies.
- Responding calmly to challenging situations and helping pupils return to learning.
- Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.
- Working alongside teachers, SEND professionals and pastoral teams to provide consistent support.
- Recognising and celebrating progress, no matter how small.
This role is not about simply managing behaviour.
It's about understanding the reasons behind it, building trust and helping children develop the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Who are we looking for?
You'll be someone who:
- Stays calm and positive under pressure.
- Builds strong relationships through patience, consistency and empathy.
- Can set clear boundaries while remaining approachable.
- Enjoys helping children overcome challenges.
- Wants to make a genuine difference every day.
Experience supporting children with behaviour, SEND or SEMH is beneficial but not essential.
We'd also love to hear from people with experience in youth work, sports coaching, residential care, mentoring, care work or other roles where you've supported young people to thrive.
Why join this school?
- £95 to £100 per day (PAYE)
- Permanent opportunity after just 12 weeks
- Supportive leadership team and experienced pastoral staff.
- Ongoing training in behaviour support and SEND.
- A welcoming school where staff genuinely support one another.
- Excellent opportunities for career progression within education.
