Job Summary

We are seeking passionate and resilient Behaviour Mentors to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Autism, ADHD, and other associated learning difficulties. This is a rewarding role for individuals with patience, empathy, and a drive to help pupils overcome challenges and thrive in their education. Full-time, term-time only, with the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract after two successful terms.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work alongside teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to support students both inside and outside of the classroom. Your role will focus on helping young people regulate their emotions, develop coping strategies, and engage positively with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Support the use of positive behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques

  • Encourage academic progress as well as personal, social, and emotional development

  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with students to promote confidence and resilience

  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges, Autism, or ADHD (desirable but not essential)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Proactive, flexible, and committed to student well-being

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
