Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a fantastic school in Chelmsford that is looking for a passionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join their team.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent, offering the chance to build meaningful relationships with young people and genuinely influence their confidence, behaviour and engagement with education.
The school supports both primary and secondary-aged pupils and is committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every young person is given the opportunity to succeed.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll work closely with pupils who may need additional support with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
Your role will include:
- Supporting pupils across both primary and secondary phases with behavioural and emotional needs.
- Building positive, trusting relationships and becoming a consistent role model.
- Helping pupils understand and regulate their emotions and develop positive behaviours.
- Supporting pupils to engage positively with learning and school life.
- Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Encouraging participation in enrichment activities, off-site learning and community opportunities.
- Getting involved in outdoor education and experiential learning.
- Helping create a calm, safe and respectful environment where pupils feel supported and understood.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Calm, patient and empathetic when managing challenging behaviour.
- Resilient and consistent, with the ability to maintain clear boundaries.
- Confident building strong and meaningful relationships with young people.
- Passionate about inclusion and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider team.
- Experienced supporting children or young people with behavioural needs, whether in education, youth work, care or a similar setting.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference.
