This is not a general classroom support role; this is a role where you will genuinely make a difference in the lives of the students you are supporting. If you are someone who understands behaviour as communication and can stay regulated under pressure while playing a vital part of a collaborative team, then this may be the perfect role for you.

About the school:

  • Independent SEND school in Ealing for pupils aged 7–19 with autism, SEMH and related needs
  • Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with strong outcomes across education, behaviour and leadership
  • Specialist therapeutic SEND provision with personalised programmes and strong pastoral support
  • Experienced leadership within a social-enterprise trust focused on inclusion and positive life outcomes
  • Inclusive ethos centred on “never give up, never exclude” and preparing pupils for adulthood

About the role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting students who may:

  • Struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, and impulsive behaviour
  • Display challenging behaviour linked to trauma or unmet needs
  • Require firm but compassionate boundaries
  • Need adults who can remain calm, consistent, and reflective

Your day will include:

  • 1:1 and small group support
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional literacy
  • De-escalation and restorative approaches
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
  • Being a consistent, reliable adult for pupils who need stability

The ideal candidate:

This role will suit you if you have experience in the following:

  • SEMH school or PRU experience
  • Youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support
  • Children’s residential or care settings
  • Alternative provision or outreach roles
  • Personal or lived experience supporting children with SEMH

You are someone who:

  • Is emotionally resilient and reflective
  • Can separate the behaviour from the child
  • Understands trauma-informed practice
  • Wants a long-term, permanent role, not a stopgap
