This is not a general classroom support role; this is a role where you will genuinely make a difference in the lives of the students you are supporting. If you are someone who understands behaviour as communication and can stay regulated under pressure while playing a vital part of a collaborative team, then this may be the perfect role for you.

The role will be based in Northolt, Ealing at an inclusive all-through mainstream school. This will be a full-time, long-term position starting immediately with the opportunity to go permanent upon review. The daily rate will be between £90 to £100 depending on your experience.

The role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting students who may:

  • Struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, and impulsive behaviour
  • Display challenging behaviour linked to trauma or unmet needs
  • Require firm but compassionate boundaries
  • Need adults who can remain calm, consistent, and reflective

Your day will include:

  • 1:1 and small group support
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional literacy
  • De-escalation and restorative approaches
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
  • Being a consistent, reliable adult for pupils who need stability

The ideal candidate:

This role will suit you if you have experience in the following:

  • SEMH school or PRU experience
  • Youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support
  • Children’s residential or care settings
  • Alternative provision or outreach roles
  • Personal or lived experience supporting children with SEMH

You are someone who:

  • Is emotionally resilient and reflective
  • Can separate the behaviour from the child
  • Understands trauma-informed practice
  • Wants a long-term, permanent role, not a stopgap

The school:

  • All-through academy in Northolt, Ealing providing education for students aged 3 to 19 years old
  • Rated Good by Ofsted, with a focus on progress across all phases
  • Inclusive provision with strong SEND and pastoral support
  • Leadership team committed to high expectations, achievement and personal development
  • Positive ethos promoting aspiration, respect and lifelong learning
