Behaviour Mentor | Alternative Provision | Cricklewood, North West London | £105–£120 per day PAYE

Do you understand that when a young person acts out, they are rarely just being difficult they are telling you something?

Can you be the adult in the room who stays calm when everything else feels chaotic, who holds the boundary and the relationship at the same time, and who genuinely believes in a young person even when they have stopped believing in themselves? Are you ready to show up every single day for young people who have learned not to trust the adults around them?

If that sounds like you, a specialist alternative provision in Cricklewood wants to meet you.

The Setting

This is not a mainstream school and it was never designed to be. This is a specialist alternative provision for secondary-aged pupils who have experienced exclusion, disrupted education, and significant social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Many of the young people here arrive disengaged, guarded, and carrying experiences that have made school feel unsafe. Through structure, consistency, restorative practice, and strong relationships, they begin to re-engage, rebuild their confidence, and make progress that genuinely matters. The leadership team is experienced and supportive, staff wellbeing is taken seriously, and this is a place where the people who work here feel as valued as the young people they serve.

The Role

As their new Behaviour Mentor, you will be a key, consistent presence in the daily lives of young people who need it most. You will meet pupils at the start of the day and set a calm, positive tone, support students in lessons to stay engaged and manage their behaviour, provide 1:1 mentoring for pupils who need additional emotional support, help young people navigate transitions, break times, and social situations, and de-escalate challenging behaviour using a calm, trauma-informed approach. You will reinforce routines, celebrate small wins, and work closely alongside teachers and pastoral staff to maintain the kind of consistency that allows trust to grow.

No two days will look the same, but your impact will be felt in every single one of them.

Who This Is For

You might be an experienced behaviour mentor or pastoral specialist with a background in SEMH, alternative provision, or youth work. You might come from a care or residential setting and be ready to bring that experience into an educational environment. Whatever your background, you will need to be calm under pressure, resilient, and deeply committed to building long-term relationships with young people who have every reason to push you away. You understand that behaviour is communication and that patience, consistency, and genuine belief in a young person are the most powerful tools you have.

What You'll Get

A daily rate of £105 to £120 PAYE with no umbrella companies or hidden deductions, a full-time term-time only contract with a genuine pathway to a permanent position, ongoing CPD including behaviour, SEMH, and de-escalation training, dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment team, and the chance to be part of a setting where what you do every day genuinely changes lives.

Why This Role Matters

For many of the young people in this provision, school has been a source of failure, not confidence. The right Behaviour Mentor can begin to change that story. Your consistency, your resilience, and your refusal to give up on a young person can help them feel safe, understood, and capable of something better. If you are ready to be that person, we would love to hear from you.
