Do you want to be a Behaviour Mentor supporting children and young people with autism? An exciting opportunity has become available within a specialist education setting dedicated to supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The setting provides a structured, nurturing, and supportive learning environment, with a strong emphasis on individualised support, positive relationships, and helping pupils develop their confidence, independence, and social skills. Staff work collaboratively to create an environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

This role will involve working across both primary and secondary provisions, supporting pupils with autism and associated needs. The successful candidate will be adaptable, resilient, and confident working with students who may display behaviours that challenge. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) across primary and secondary age groups.
  • Implementing positive behaviour support strategies to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and learning.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support individual pupil needs.
  • Supporting students both within the classroom and during wider school activities.
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
  • Working across two specialist provisions as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children and young people with autism.
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Team Teach and/or Positive Behaviour Support training desirable but not essential.
  • Confidence working flexibly across multiple sites and age groups.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their academic, social, and personal goals.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a calm, proactive, and compassionate individual who can build trust with pupils, maintain professional boundaries, and provide consistent support that enables young people to thrive both academically and socially. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a specialist setting where teamwork, consistency, and an understanding of individual needs are essential.

If you have a strong background in autism support and are looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.
