Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Chelmsford that is looking for passionate, resilient and dedicated Behaviour Mentors to join its team.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people who may have found traditional education challenging. Working across primary, secondary or both, you'll help pupils develop confidence, build positive relationships and re-engage with learning in a supportive, structured environment.
For the right person, this could be the start of a rewarding long-term career in specialist education, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position.
The Role – Behaviour Mentor
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and social development.

Help young people overcome barriers to learning and engage with education.

Provide consistent boundaries, encouragement and positive role modelling.

Adapt your approach to meet individual needs and respond to challenging situations calmly.

Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Celebrate progress, recognising that success looks different for every pupil.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from people who are patient, resilient and passionate about supporting young people.
Ideally, you'll have:

Experience working in education, mentoring, youth work, care or a similar setting, although this isn't essential.

A degree or a genuine passion for helping young people develop and succeed.

The ability to remain calm, flexible and consistent in challenging situations.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of SEMH and trauma-informed support.
You don't need extensive SEND experience to make a difference. If you have the right attitude, resilience and commitment to supporting young people, we'd love to speak with you.
