Behaviour Mentor for Specialist SEMH Provision

We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join a primary school’s SEMH provision in Havering, supporting pupils with additional needs who require a more tailored approach to education.
This is an important role. You will be working directly with children who can find mainstream education incredibly difficult and helping them regulate, engage, build confidence and access their learning.
The role will be challenging, so we are looking for someone who is patient, consistent and confident when working with complex behaviour.
You will be working closely with pupils on a one to one and small group basis.
You will build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent support and clear boundaries, and help children develop the skills and confidence they need to make progress.
You will also work closely with teachers, SEND support staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure each pupil receives the right support.
We are looking for someone who is
- Calm, patient and consistent
- Can build strong relationships with children
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- Can set clear boundaries while remaining supportive
- Resilient and able to stay calm when situations become difficult
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH
Experience within a school, SEND setting, youth work, residential care or a similar environment would be beneficial.
