Some young people don't need someone to simply manage their behaviour. They need someone who understands what's behind it.

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEMH provision in Havering looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join their team ASAP.

You’ll be supporting pupils who can find mainstream education difficult, helping them regulate their emotions, manage behaviour and engage with learning in a way that works for them.

About the Role

You’ll work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, building relationships and providing the consistency they need throughout the school day.

Your role will include:

• Building positive and trusting relationships
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation
• Helping children engage with learning
• Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way
• Setting clear and supportive boundaries
• Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
• Working alongside teachers, SEND staff and the wider pastoral team
• Providing consistent support based on individual needs

This can be a challenging environment, so being able to stay calm when situations become difficult is really important.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Calm, patient and consistent
• Confident supporting challenging behaviour
• Naturally good at building relationships with children
• Resilient when things don't go to plan
• Comfortable setting clear boundaries
• Passionate about helping young people make progress

Previous experience with SEMH is ideal, but we’d also like to hear from people with backgrounds in SEND, education, youth work, residential care, mentoring or behaviour support.
