Your next opportunity?
Location: Havering, Essex
Pay: £95–£110 per day PAYE, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: ASAP
Some young people need someone who can look beyond the behaviour.
They need someone who can stay calm when things get difficult, understand what might be driving their reactions and help them find a better way forward.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEMH setting in Havering looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join their team as soon as possible.
You'll support pupils who may have struggled in mainstream education, helping them manage their emotions, engage with learning and build more positive relationships.
About the Role
You'll work with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, providing consistent support throughout the school day.
Your role could include:
-
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
-
Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour.
-
Helping pupils engage with lessons and activities.
-
Managing challenging situations calmly and consistently.
-
Setting clear boundaries while remaining supportive.
-
Encouraging confidence, independence and positive choices.
-
Working alongside teachers and the wider pastoral and SEND team.
-
Adapting your approach to each pupil's individual needs.
This isn't always an easy environment, and things won't go perfectly every day. The important thing is being able to remain calm, build trust and keep working with the young person.
About You
Previous SEMH or behaviour support experience would be ideal, but we'd also consider candidates from other relevant backgrounds.
You might have worked as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker or in another role supporting children and young people.
We're looking for someone who is:
-
Calm, patient and consistent.
-
Confident supporting challenging behaviour.
-
Good at building relationships with young people.
-
Resilient when situations become difficult.
-
Comfortable setting clear and fair boundaries.
-
Reliable and willing to work as part of a team.
-
Genuinely interested in helping young people make progress.
Why Work with Parker Smith Inclusion?
-
PAYE pay with no umbrella company deductions.
-
Full-time, long-term opportunity.
-
Specialist SEND and SEMH recruitment support.
-
Personalised job matching.
-
CV advice and interview preparation.
-
Ongoing support throughout your placement.
-
400+ five-star Google reviews from educators.
The rewarding part of this work is often seeing the small changes: a pupil beginning to trust you, managing a difficult moment more positively or feeling confident enough to get involved in a lesson.
If you've got experience supporting children or young people and want to build your career in SEMH and behaviour support, I'd love to hear from you.
