- Location: Feltham, West London
- Pay: £90 - £100 per day PAYE
- Job Type: Full time, term time only
- Start Date: ASAP or next half term
This is not a general school support role.
This Behaviour Mentor position is for people who genuinely understand that behaviour is communication.
You will support children and young people with significant social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role suits people who are confident working with dysregulation, emotional distress, and challenging behaviour, and who want to make a real difference, not just work in a school environment.
If you are looking for a quiet or general classroom role, this will not be the right fit.
The type of needs you will support
You will be working with pupils who may present with:
- SEMH social, emotional and mental health needs
- Autism and ASC
- ADHD and attention regulation difficulties
- Emotional dysregulation and trauma-related behaviours
- Attachment needs
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Sensory processing differences
- Some learning difficulties alongside behavioural needs
Many pupils have experienced disrupted education, adverse experiences, or difficulty trusting adults. Your role is to help them feel safe, understood and regulated enough to engage with learning.
Your role as a Behaviour Mentor
- Providing 1 to 1 and small group behavioural and emotional support
- Supporting pupils during moments of dysregulation or crisis
- Implementing behaviour support and regulation strategies

- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEN staff
- Recording and feeding back on behaviour and progress
The reality of the role
This role can be emotionally demanding. You may work with pupils who display challenging behaviour, emotional outbursts, or withdrawal. You will need to remain calm, consistent and emotionally regulated yourself.
People who thrive in this role are resilient, patient, reflective and able to separate the behaviour from the child.
This role is ideal for people with backgrounds such as
- Behaviour Mentors and Learning Mentors

- SEMH or alternative provision experience
- PRU or specialist provision experience
- Care or children’s residential support workers
