More than just classroom support.
Some pupils need a more individual approach to learning. Understanding their communication, recognising what can trigger certain behaviours and finding the right way to support them can make a real difference.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEND setting in Witham looking for a Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with Autism and complex additional needs.
About the Role
You'll work closely with pupils, helping them engage with learning, develop their communication and build greater independence.
Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:
-
Providing 1:1 support based on each pupil's individual needs.
-
Supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs.
-
Following structured routines and individual learning programmes.
-
Supporting communication, interaction and social skills.
-
Helping pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour.
-
Encouraging independence and the development of life skills.
-
Working alongside teachers and the wider team to provide consistent support.
This is a hands-on role where patience, consistency and understanding are important. You'll need to adapt your approach to each pupil rather than expect every child to respond in the same way.
About You
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis), Autism support or intensive 1:1 learning support.
You might have worked as an ABA Tutor, Behaviour Mentor, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Autism Support Worker.
Experience working with children is important, but you don't necessarily need previous school experience. Relevant experience from care, therapy or other support settings could also be suitable.
We're looking for someone who is:
-
Patient, calm and consistent.
-
Confident building positive relationships.
-
Comfortable providing individualised support.
-
Able to follow structured programmes and approaches.
-
Flexible and willing to learn.
-
Genuinely interested in helping pupils develop their communication, confidence and independence.
