We are looking for a dedicated SEND 2:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 3 child with autism who is non-verbal. This is a hands-on, highly rewarding role for someone who understands that every child with ASD is unique and that communication, behaviour, and learning support must be tailored and patient.
You will provide one-to-one care and support, helping the child engage with learning, develop independence, and navigate the school day in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Your support will be central to their confidence, emotional regulation, and daily achievements.
What You Will Do
-
Work closely with the child, teachers, and therapists to deliver individualised learning and care
-
Support communication using alternative and augmentative methods
-
Help the child manage behaviour, transitions, and daily routines calmly and consistently
-
Encourage independence and life skills while creating a safe, predictable, and supportive environment
-
Observe, record, and report progress, behaviours and needs accurately
Who You Are
-
Experienced supporting children with autism or complex communication needs
-
Patient, calm, and consistent with a deep understanding of ASD
-
Confident responding to challenging behaviour without judgement
-
Compassionate, proactive, and committed to helping the child thrive academically and socially
-
Comfortable collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to provide a holistic approach to learning
Why This Role Matters
This is not just a job, it is an opportunity to make a real, daily impact on a child’s life. Every interaction you have can help them communicate, feel safe, and succeed in ways they may never have before. Your work will be rewarding, meaningful, and highly visible.
