We are looking for a caring and committed SEND Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with autism who is non-verbal. This role is ideal for someone who understands that progress is built through patience, consistency, and getting to know the child you support.
You will help the pupil feel safe, regulated, and able to access learning throughout the school day. Your guidance will help build communication, confidence, and independence in a calm and structured environment.
Your Role
- Support the child with day-to-day learning and routines
- Help with communication using alternative and augmentative approaches
- Assist with behaviour management and transitions in a calm, predictable way
- Encourage engagement, independence, and essential life skills
- Observe and report progress to teachers and specialists
- Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support
About You
- Experience supporting children with autism or complex needs
- Calm, patient, and confident in handling behaviour
- Understanding of autism and communication differences
- Caring, proactive, and resilient
- Team player who puts the child at the centre of practice
