A welcoming primary school in Pinner with a dedicated resourced provision for pupils with autism and associated learning difficulties is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join their supportive SEN team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in behaviour support, autism provision, SEN settings or primary education.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will help pupils with autism and additional learning needs to regulate, engage and access structured learning. Working closely with teachers, SEN leads and pastoral staff, you will play a key role in improving behaviour, communication and classroom participation.
Key Duties

Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support for pupils with autism and communication needs

Follow personalised behaviour plans and support emotional regulation throughout the day

Assist with transitions, routines and engagement in classroom activities

Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams

Promote independence, positive behaviour strategies and consistent boundaries

Support delivery of interventions linked to pupils’ EHCP outcomes

Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment

Primary school with a specialist autism provision

Inclusive culture prioritising emotional wellbeing, communication and structured learning

Collaborative SEN team including teachers, support staff and pastoral leads

Clear routines, visual support systems and strong behaviour frameworks

Training, guidance and supportive leadership available for all staff
Essential Criteria

Experience supporting children with autism, SEMH or behaviour-related needs

Confident using de-escalation, positive behaviour support and structured routines

Ability to build trust and supportive relationships with pupils

Calm, patient and proactive approach to challenging situations

Reliable, committed and passionate about working within primary SEN settings
