You might come from education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral support, or something entirely different. What matters most is your ability to connect with young people, to remain calm when things are difficult, and to see potential where others might only see challenge, if you are someone that is not only looking simply to support learning, but to work alongside students as they rediscover their confidence and a sense of possibility, this might be somewhere made for you.
These are student's that have been misunderstood, overlooked, or told that school isn’t a place where they belong. Many of the students have gained experiences that have shaped how they see the world, themselves, and education. But how would you like to change that?
One of our SEND school's in Greenwich is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to start as soon as possible to help support 4-18 year old pupils. Classes have 8 students with needs across Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD), Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health, with some of the classes being sensory based.
From first walking into the School, you can tell that this is very behaviour based with SEMH evidencing as one of the main needs, as long as you are able to work in a fast paced environment, using initiative and proactiveness, success in the role will be achieved.
This role isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being present, patient, and purposeful. These students have been misunderstood and just need someone who is there for them, as long as you are willing to learn who they are through the good days and the bad days, relationships can really be made.
The benefits of the role
- Yearly Salary Increments.
- Career progression within your role.
- Potential to become a teacher within 2 years.
- Additional training such as positive handling & Price training.
- On-site parking.
- CPD Training.
