Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: North West London (Brent / Harrow)
Pay: £90 – £110 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only

A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in North West London is recruiting a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and challenging behaviour. This PRU supports both primary and secondary aged pupils who are unable to access mainstream education and require a structured, supportive learning environment.
This Behaviour Support Assistant role is ideal for someone experienced in behaviour support, SEN, SEMH or youth work who is looking for a long-term opportunity within a specialist education setting.
Key responsibilities

Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs

Working 1:1 and with small groups of pupils

Supporting learning, engagement and emotional regulation

Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils

Managing behaviour in line with school policies

Supporting pupils across primary and secondary age ranges

Working within small class sizes, typically no more than 6 pupils
Person specification
-
Previous experience as a Behaviour Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEMH TA, Youth Worker or similar role

Experience supporting challenging behaviour or vulnerable young people

Calm, resilient and confident approach to behaviour management

Passion for working with children and young people in specialist settings

Flexible and adaptable to changing needs within a PRU environment

Interests in sport, music or creative activities are highly desirable
