Behaviour Support Assistant
Hackney
£100 – £120 per day PAYE (depending on experience)
Working with young people who have been excluded or disengaged from mainstream education is not easy work. It requires patience, resilience and the ability to see beyond behaviour. But for the right person, it is one of the most rewarding roles you can do in education.
We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit based in central London that supports children and young people from primary through to secondary age. Pupils may be attending on short-term placements or longer-term provisions due to challenging behaviour, social, emotional and mental health needs, and additional learning needs. These students require consistency, structure and adults who genuinely care.
This is a setting where relationships come first, class sizes are small, and staff are given the time and support to make a real difference.
The Role – Behaviour Support Assistant
- Supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
- Working 1:1 and in small groups
- Supporting pupils with their learning and emotional regulation
- Building strong, trusting and meaningful relationships
- Supporting both primary and secondary pupils where needed
- Class sizes of no more than 6 students
What We’re Looking For
- Previous school or relevant experience supporting challenging behaviour
- A resilient, calm and consistent approach
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
- Flexibility and willingness to support across the school
- Interests such as sport, music or creative activities are highly welcomed
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact, whether you’re experienced in alternative provision or looking to further develop your behaviour and SEMH experience.
