The role of an Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant is about far more than supporting learning. It's about being the consistent adult who helps a young person believe in themselves, manage challenges, and re-engage with education.
At Parker Smith Inclusion, we are working with a specialist secondary setting supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many of the young people have faced significant barriers in their education and need patient, resilient adults who can build positive relationships and provide the support they need to succeed.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students both in and out of the classroom, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and develop confidence.
No two days are the same. You may be supporting lessons, mentoring students, assisting during interventions, or helping a young person navigate a difficult moment in their day.
Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams, and therapists, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience working with young people, ideally within education, youth work, mentoring, or support settings

Understands SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour

Builds positive and trusting relationships

Is calm, resilient, and empathetic

Has a genuine passion for helping young people succeed
