Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Barking & Dagenham | Full-Time | September Start | Long-Term Opportunity
We're working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking & Dagenham that is looking to appoint a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is not a role for someone new to the classroom. The school is looking for someone with previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour who can remain calm, consistent and positive, even on the most difficult days.
You'll be working closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them engage with learning, regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships within the classroom.
The Role
You will:
- Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour, both in and out of the classroom.
- Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team to implement behaviour strategies.
- Help pupils remain focused and access learning throughout the school day.
- Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour in a primary school.
- Is confident managing behaviour using positive and consistent approaches.
- Remains calm under pressure and can think on their feet.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is committed, reliable and passionate about helping children succeed.
The School
This is a supportive and well-led primary school where staff work collaboratively to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. You'll be joining a dedicated team who value consistency, resilience and a child-centred approach.
What's on Offer
- Long-term, full-time role starting in September.
- Opportunity to secure a permanent position.
- Supportive leadership team and experienced staff.
- A rewarding role where your impact will be seen every day.
If you have the experience, confidence and resilience to support pupils with challenging behaviour and are looking for your next opportunity in a welcoming primary school, we'd love to hear from you.
