Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant - Tower Hamlets

£100 per day - Long Term Contract

Date Posted: Friday 01 May 2026

, Ref: 12583

As a Teaching Assistant, you know behaviour is more than what you see, it’s communication. It’s experience. It’s everything a young person hasn’t yet found the words to express.

In this Trauma Informed SEMH secondary school in North East London, the understanding shapes everything they do.

This school supports young boys who have struggled in mainstream education due to SEMH, autism, trauma, and complex backgrounds. Many haven’t had consistent support, so your role as a reliable, positive presence is key.

You’ll support students across the school day, helping them engage with learning, manage behaviour, and build trust.

Consistency matters here, being calm, dependable, and true to your word will have a real impact.

The curriculum is adapted and engaging, with access to outdoor learning, a music studio, and vocational sessions like boxing and barbering, designed to re-engage students with education.

We are looking for candidates who have...

  • Experience with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour

  • Confidence with de-escalation and clear boundaries

  • Strong communication skills

  • Youth work or support work experience is beneficial

  • GCSEs required (degree desirable)

Most importantly, you believe in young people, even when they don’t believe in themselves.

This isn’t just a Teaching Assistant role. It’s a chance to be the consistency a young person needs, and that can change everything.
